Happy Birthday Piers! Pleasantly happy to see you still kickin’ around. I’ve been a big fan when I discovered your books back in high school. Some of my favorite series being the Apprentice Adept, the Space Tyrant, the Incarnations of Immortality, and the Tarot series. And of course there was Xanth. I’m trying to get my son into reading but am getting resistance. I’m sure one day he’ll discover its joys. I have your books high on the list that he is to read! Just wanted to let you know how much wonder, excitement and imagination your novels have imprinted upon me and that I appreciate how much it has contributed to my love of books.

happy birthday! Just wanted to say that while im not a huge fan of Xanth, I absolutely love both Incarnations of Immortality and Apprentice Adept Series. Both are favorites of mine. I love so many characters, Stile, lady Blue, Neysa, Jolie, Kerena, Niobe and many more. Thank you for the great stories and the great eacape yout writing has provided.

Which reminds me of when I commented in a fanzine decades ago how the reader desires the writer while the writer desires the desire of the reader. Similarly the man desires the woman while the woman desires the desire of the man. I wondered in the fanzine whether female writers, experiencing both kinds of interest, could judge whether it was a fair parallel. A woman called that sexist. Sigh.

Happy belated Birthday! I came across a Xanth book in my early 20s when i was a young lass working far from home, and I was instantly hooked. I then discovered what a wide range your writing actually encompasses, and you stretched my imagination more than I thought possible. Your worlds are fascinating, and I enjoy going back and visiting various realms, and being able to dip into the ‘serious’ or the ‘punny’ or the ‘thoughtful’ or the plain ‘bizarre’ depending on my mood or what life has to offer me at that time. You have most definitely been a great influence on what I read, and you have expanded my horizons even more than I thought possible. And then to have found your newsletters.. well, what an absolute treat. So thank you for sharing your words and your worlds, I appreciate the manner in which your mind works more than I can say.

I recently rediscovered the Xanth novels and learned you just celebrated your 92nd birthday. Happy belated birthday, Piers.
When I first read these books as a child, I was quiet and shy, and often overlooked as “having no magic.” As an adult, I discovered the gifts that come with sensitivity and finer perception. Bink has been my hero for many years.
Thank you for weaving your insights into human nature through such wonderfully entertaining stories. Best wishes to you and yours.

On a side note, I started re-reading Prostho plus for the umpteenth time when I noticed the dentist has the same last name as your middle name and he is the same age as what you probably were when you wrote the book.

Happy Belated Birthday!
Many years ago, shortly after you released ‘Bio of An Ogre’, you were the subject of my high school American Literature final paper. I was delighted that I was able to share your inspiring and fascinating story with a befuddled classroom of Mundanian peers and my adept & well-read teacher who, as it happened, was hopelessly devoid of any Anthonian knowledge. I received an “A” on the project and to this day I prefer to labor under the assumption that —if for no other reason— it was just reward for shedding some much needed light on the eye of her gourd.
Several years later I wrote you an overlong letter detailing my discovery of you and my intentions to take up writing. Your reply hangs proudly above my desk. And now, many years since Florida and a whole lot more living, I’m happy to wish you a very grateful and congratulatory 92 years around the sun! Oh what dreams you have dreamed! What joys and sorrows you have reveled in and endured… I take my hat off to you Sir Jacob, surely you have earned your rest twice over now with a life well lived.
May the things that ail you be assuaged and may you bask in the joy and happiness you have so generously provided for others.

I have read your books since I was in middle school in rural Wisconsin. My first book was “Through the ice”. Then I started reading the “incarnations of Immortality”. I have re-read that series quite a few times. I fell in love with your worlds you created and the characters. I wanted you to know how much they have stayed with me in my life, now that I’m reaching 42, I wanted a way to just let you know that I still greatly admire your work, your worlds and the beloved characters you have created. I thank you for entertaining me for so long. I look forward to catching up in my reading and getting to your current works! You have been a huge influence on my life and will continue being so.
